From classic boutiques with British goods to cutting-edge pop-ups with stylish finds, the city has a high street for every taste and preference. London is a popular place for locals and visitors to indulge in retail therapy. Not only is there a broad range of shops to discover in the UK capital, but also a diversity of styles to choose from.
Whether you’re looking for high fashion or vintage clothing, souvenirs or home goods, the best shopping streets in London have you covered.
While many of the most popular places to shop in London are in the city center, there are great places to browse and buy in local neighborhoods as well. My guide will show you a mix of both.

1. The King’s Road
First on my list of the best shopping streets in London is the King’s Road in Chelsea. Running from Sloane Square in the east to Fulham in the west, this upscale street is packed with shops and boutiques.
From classic high street names to independent numbers and iconic department stores like Peter Jones, it has everything from clothing to furniture on offer.
The King’s Road is perfect for you if you like staying on-trend with what to wear in London and you love home goods.
Also in the area, Old Brompton Road, Fulham Road, and Sloane Street are worth a visit for retail therapy. And that’s to say nothing of Brompton Road and Knightsbrige, where Harrods and Harvey Nichols are located.
2. Regent Street
Regent Street is another of the best shopping streets in London. Located right in the heart of the city between Soho and Mayfair, this iconic road is known for having all the high street names. It’s also famous for its stunning curves and historic architecture.
Along with Oxford Street, this is the most famous shopping street in London. It’s for you if you want to go somewhere classic and find all the well-known British and international brands.
3. Marylebone High Street
Next on my list of the best shopping streets in London is Marylebone High Street. This road is famous for its upscale clothing stores, home interior shops, iconic bookstore, and foodie finds.
Located right in the heart of Marylebone, this street is for you if you like a mix of all things delicious and beautiful when you do your shopping.
Also in the area, St Christopher’s Place and Marylebone Lane are worth a visit. Both are packed with independent shops and boutiques selling everything from clothing to jewelry. They’re great places for shopping in Marylebone.
4. Brick Lane
Out in east London, Brick Lane is another of the best shopping streets in the UK capital. This road in Spitalfields is not only packed with vintage clothing stores, but also great Sunday markets selling everything from food to secondhand goods.
Brick Lane is for you if you love vintage shopping, hipster atmosphere, and open-air markets in equal measure.
5. Hampstead High Street
Next on my list of the best shopping streets in London is Hampstead High Street. This road is lined with all kinds of upmarket stores.
You can find everything from clothing to kitchen shops here, and there’s a good mix of beloved high street names and independent boutiques.
Located in the heart of Hampstead, this street is perfect for you if you love a village feel and want to shop somewhere local Londoners go.
While you’re in the area, don’t miss Flask Walk and the Hampstead Antique & Craft Emporium. The former is a pedestrianized number with antiques and flowers spilling into the street, and the latter is a treasure trove tucked away down a narrow passage.
6. Portobello Road
Over in Notting Hill, Portobello Road is another of the most famous shopping streets in London. Not only is it home to one of the city’s most beloved markets, but also a lot of great shops.
Whether you’re looking for one-of-kind antiques or fun things for your flat, Portobello Road has it all. The most famous shopping street in west London, it’s the perfect place if you love hunting for vintage finds or soaking up fun atmosphere.
The streets around Portobello Road are worth exploring, too. Places like Blenheim Crescent and Kensington Park Road are home to great independent bookshops, and Westbourne Grove is full of high-end boutiques.
7. Golborne Road
Just north of Portobello Road, Golborne Road in Ladbroke Grove is one of my favorite local shopping streets in London. There’s a great market here, too.
This neighborhood favorite is packed with everything from famous vintage clothing stores to antiques and bakeries. It’s for you if you want to shop like a local in London and pick up unique finds.
8. Lordship Lane
Down in south London, Lordship Lane in East Dulwich is another of my favorite shopping streets in London. This long local high street is packed with everything from clothing stores to independent bookshops and cheesemongers.
This is one of the best high streets in London when it comes to local areas. It’s perfect if you want to get off the beaten path and shop somewhere with lots of independent stores. Shopping here is one of my favorite things to do in Dulwich.
On Saturdays, North Cross Road Market runs perpendicular to Lordship Lane. It’s a great place to pick up delicious food, home goods, and antique treasures in the neighborhood. The shops on the street are great, too.
9. Bond Street
Back in the city center, one of the best shopping streets in London is Bond Street in Mayfair. Comprised of New Bond Street and Old Bond Street, this road is famous for its luxury goods shops and art galleries.
From Cartier to Givenchy and Prada, Bond Street is a mecca for those who love the finer things in life. This place is for you if you love all things hedonistic. It’s arguably the most famous fashion street in London.
There are lots of other good places to shop in the area, too. From men’s tailoring on Savile Row to Victorian specials like Burlington Arcade, Mayfair is packed with great retail therapy.
10. Jermyn Street and St James’s Street
Running perpendicular to one another in the heart of the UK capital, Jermyn Street and St James’s Street are two more of the best shopping streets in London.
They’re synonymous with all things classic Britain, particularly when it comes to men’s clothing.
If you’re looking for a posh shopping street in London, these two roads in St James’s fit the bill perfectly. They’re great places to find everything from traditional British clothing to bespoke shoes and shirts.
11. Piccadilly
Just north of Jermyn Street, Piccadilly is another of the best shopping streets in London. A famous thoroughfare in the heart of the city, this road has everything from famous bookstores to a temple to style, culture, and art.
But perhaps the best-known place to shop on Piccadilly is Fortnum and Mason. This iconic British department store is a great place to pick up everything from biscuits to dishes and luxurious gifts.
The famous Fortnum and Mason afternoon tea is a great way to break up a day of shopping, too.
This street is for you if you want to be in the heart of the city and shop at some of London’s most celebrated stores at the same time.
12. Oxford Street
Next on my list of the best shopping streets in London is Oxford Street. While many locals avoid it due to heavy crowds and a touristy reputation, it still merits a place in my guide because it’s often considered the most famous shopping street in London.
This long road is lined with everything from high street shops to iconic department stores like Selfridges. It’s ideal if you want a classic taste of London.
13. Lamb’s Conduit Street
Lamb’s Conduit Street in Bloomsbury is another of the best shopping streets in London. Despite being near landmarks like the British Museum, it manages to attract a mostly local crowd.
Lamb’s Conduit Street is lined with great shops, restaurants, and wine bars. You can find everything here from a beloved cheesemonger to clothing stores, florists, and art galleries. It’s perfect if you want to shop like a local in the heart of London.
14. Bermondsey Street
Next on my list of the best shopping streets in London is Bermondsey Street. This south London special is lined with unique shops selling everything from British gifts to delicious food. There are great restaurants and cafes in between.
Bermondsey Street is an ideal place to shop if you love food and independent stores in equal measure.
15. Monmouth Street
Right in the heart of Covent Garden, Monmouth Street in Seven Dials is another of the best shopping streets in London. This place has lots of independent shops selling everything from handmade acrylic jewelry to perfume, coffee, and Pierre Herme macarons.
Monmouth Street is in what is arguably the best shopping area in London. Covent Garden is packed with retail gems from Long Acre to Floral Street and the famous piazza.
This street is for you if you want to discover some of the top independent and local chain shops in London and explore one of the city’s most beloved areas as you go.
16. Cecil Court
Also in Covent Garden, Cecil Court is a great place to pick up unusual finds. This short pedestrianized street is famous for its antiquarian bookstores, Victorian facades, and map and print shops. There’s even an Alice in Wonderland-themed store here.
Cecil Court is for you if you love all things paper and vintage. It’s a great place to pick up a one-of-a-kind gift for a loved one or a souvenir for yourself.
There are more great antiquarian and specialty bookshops on nearby Charing Cross Road, too. And that’s to say nothing of Foyles, one of London’s most famous bookstores.
17. Elizabeth Street
Elizabeth Street in Belgravia is another of the best shopping streets in the city. This beautiful road is located in one of the nicest neighborhoods in London.
Elizabeth Street is known for its floral facades, which front everything from cake shops to perfume stores. Interspersed among them are famous milliners, high-end pet boutiques, and clothing stores.
Elizabeth Street is for you if you have deep pockets and love pretty shopfronts and all things beautiful.
18. Columbia Road
Out east in Hackney, Columbia Road is another of the best shopping streets in London. This place is famous for the Columbia Road Flower Market, which turns it into a floral paradise every Sunday.
But behind the market stalls lies a wealth of independent shops that are worth visiting. They’re packed with pretty things for your home and garden, not to mention great gifts for friends and loved ones.
Columbia Road is for you if you love decorating your house or growing things outside of it.
19. Upper Street
Upper Street in Islington is another of the best shopping streets in London. This long road is lined with everything from clothing stores to home interior shops, and it offers a great mix of big names and independent ones.
Upper Street has some of the best high street shopping in London. Its stores are fun to browse, and the adjacent Camden Passage Market is full of unique finds. It’s one of the best markets in London.
This street is for you if you love a local area and a good mix of things to buy when you shop.
20. Carnaby Street
Next on my list of the best shopping streets in London is Carnaby Street. Located right by Regent Street and Oxford Street in Soho, this pedestrianized road is in one of the most famous central London areas for retail therapy.
Carnaby Street is known for both shopping and decor. Its colorful facades front a big mix of high street names and a few independent and local chain stores.
Along with the side streets around it, Carnaby Street features some of the best Christmas decorations and lights in London. It’s a great place to shop year-round, though.
This place is for you if you love the energy of central London and want to shop in a fun area in the heart of the city. It’s also around the corner from the main entrance to Liberty, one of the most beloved department stores in London.
21. The Broadway
Next on my list of the best shopping streets in London is The Broadway in Crouch End. This street and the others around the Crouch End Clock Tower are some of the best local roads to shop on in north London.
This area has a great mix of independent shops selling everything from books to plants, home goods, and gifts. It’s the perfect place to go if you want to shop locally and get a taste of one of the UK capital’s most beloved residential neighborhoods.
22. Regent’s Park Road
Regent’s Park Road is another of the best shopping streets in London. It’s the Primrose Hill high street, and it has an abundance of stores to get excited about.
This street is full of high-end shops selling clothing, furniture, books, and more. There are flower shops and wine merchants, and lots of things in between. It’s a great place for you if you love all things beautiful and independent.
While you’re in the area, don’t miss Camden Market. It’s just south of Regent’s Park Road and it’s a shopping lover’s paradise.
23. Electric Avenue
Electric Avenue in Brixton is another of the best shopping streets in London (and so famous there’s a song about it). This pedestrianized road is known for being the first market street to be lit by electric lights.
Electric Avenue is home to part of Brixton Market, one of the best south London markets. You can find everything from household cleaning products to fresh African and Caribbean produce for sale here.
While you’re in the area, don’t miss other great shopping areas like Brixton Village, Reliance Arcade, Market Row, and Pop Brixton. They’re all great Brixton markets.
